This innovative writing camp puts the “play” back into the writing process! Established writing mentors Justin Kennington, Stephen Gashler and Steven Dowdle teach improvisational techniques and games that are conducive to writing as well as the process and techniques of good writing. Participants will write an original, polished 10-minute play and/or a significant portion of an original full length play. Students are encouraged to continue working with the mentors and enter their plays into competitions and venues -- many of the plays from past workshops have gone on to win prestigious awards at Scholastic Arts & Writing; Utah Theatre Association; Utah Shakespearean Festival; VSA Playwright Program and more.
TO REGISTER: Registration for Summer 2011 will begin on Friday, April 1st. You may pick up a registration form at the SCERA Center for the Arts, 745 South State, Orem, open 10am-6pm weekdays, call (801) 225-ARTS to register by phone or download and print Summer 2011 registration form. Bring the completed form and full payment to the main office of the SCERA Center for the Arts. There is a $15 cancellation fee per class.
