SCERA Youth Dance
New! Youth Ballet
This new class will teach steps and techniques at the barre and then apply them in the center in small dances and combinations. Students will present a short program for family and friends at the end of the semester. Curriculum will be based on the Royal Academy of Dance ballet program. Instructor: Breanna Zundel.
Dates: Fall Semester - Sept. 12-Dec. 12
Winter Semester - Jan. 9-May 14
Time: Mondays 4:30-5:30pm
Ages: 6-10
Tuition: $25/month plus an additional cost for proper ballet attire
TO REGISTER: Registration for Winter 2012 will begin on Monday, Nov. 14, 2011. You may pick up a registration form at the SCERA Center for the Arts, 745 South State, Orem, open 10am-6pm weekdays, call (801) 225-ARTS to register by phone or download and print the registration form. Bring the completed form and full payment to the main office of the SCERA Center for the Arts. There is a $15 cancellation fee per class.

Adult Social Dance Lessons
Come and have a great evening with your dance partner of choice and learn social ballroom skills. This is a fun, low-key environment to find your two left feet and make them move in ways you didn’t think you could! This year, we are teaching the Cha-Cha...join us for one night or all three of the dates listed below. It’s a great excuse to socialize with friends and neighbors and get out of the house for an hour! Instructor: Shawn Mortensen

This will be a special Valentine's class with chocolates and sparkling cider

Shawn is an Orem native that has been performing since his days at Vineyard Elementary School. He has been on stage at SCERA several times starring in Seussical the Musical as the Cat in the Hat, Wizard of Oz as Scarecrow, The Big Friendly Giant as the BFG, Plaid Tidings as Jinx and A Year with Frog and Toad as Frog. Shawn is also a sought-after director and choreographer. As a high school sophomore, Shawn took his first ballroom dance class and fell in love with it! That started him on a path that would include ballroom dance in his life. Shawn danced for Mountain View High School Ballroom for 3 years, for Utah Valley University Summer Ballroom Team, and was the teacher/coach for Orem High School Ballroom for 5 years. Shawn feels that ballroom dance is great for young and old people because it can teach them confidence, social skills and coordination.
