PUPPET ART: Making & Performing Fantastic Creatures
Through the inspiration of Dr. Seuss, student puppeteers will design and create a rod puppet, rehearse movement, and perform a short piece with their puppet. Puppeteers will also have the opportunity to attend a performance by the professional Tanglewood Marionettes at BYU.
Dates: September 8-December 15, 2011
Time: Thursdays 4:30-5:30pm
Ages: 8+
Tuition: $40/month plus $18 materials fee

INSTRUCTOR: Nat Reed is SCERA’s Technical Director, where he recently designed set or lights for Plaid Tidings, Hairspray, Funny Girl, Willy Wonka, Annie Get Your Gun, Les Mis School Edition, Joseph…Dreamcoat and Into The Woods. He has designed for Mattel Inc, Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Mortal Fools Theatre productions of Frankenstein and The Glass Menagerie. Recent projects include puppets and masks for SCERA's productions of Stellaluna, If You Give A Mouse A Cookie and The Reluctant Dragon and for UVU’s Charlotte’s Web. Nat is also an instructor at BYU where he teaches puppetry and set construction. He was awarded an Emma Louise Warfield Memorial Scholarship to the National Puppetry Festival and is the festival director for the Puppetry Arts Guild of Utah.

TO REGISTER: Registration for Fall 2011 will begin August 17th. You may pick up a registration form at the SCERA Center for the Arts, 745 South State, Orem, open 10am-6pm weekdays, call (801) 225-ARTS to register by phone or download and print the registration form. Bring the completed form and full payment to the main office of the SCERA Center for the Arts. There is a $15 cancellation fee per class.
